National Waterways Museum, Gloucester

We have worked on the complete refurbishment of this Grade II Listed Building on the docks in Gloucester. We have acted as architect, exhibition designer, and graphic designer as well as working with lighting designers DHA Designs, and film designer Nick Street.

Our starting point was to include the building as part of the design, by taking interpretation and objects off the walls, into rooms within the space, and opening up the ground floor to become one whole space again. This allows long views across the building, and the rich materials of brick, timber and metal to act as a backdrop to the stories of the objects. We created a frame structure that holds different interpretation: films, labels, showcases, props, objects.

We are now working on the final architectural designs for a new entrance space that will face the courtyard at the front of the building.
