From Street to Trench: A World War That Shaped a Region

For this exhibition at IWM North we used our expertise in the fields of exhibition design, theatre and architecture to create an exhibition which immerses the visitor in the lives of people living
in North West England during the First World War. From Street To Trench: A World War That Shaped A Region is the largest exhibition ever created exploring the lives and experiences of people
from the North West during this period.

In the exhbition we made the sense of place key
to the visitor’s experience; the themes of the exhibition each correspond to a place and a time
in the North West, either before, during or after
the war. The emphasis on scene setting for each theme differentiates the spaces, paces the visitor’s journey through the exhibition and provides dynamic settings to uncover the objects and stories and create the connections between
the home front, the industry and the trenches.

We worked with Graphic designers Northover&Brown, Lighting Designers studio ZNA and Sound Designer Carolyn Downing. On at the IWM North in Manchester until April 2015.
