Ben Black

Architectural Assistant / Designer

Ben joined Nissen Richards Studio in 2021, after receiving a Distinction for his M.Arch from the Mackintosh School of Architecture. His final thesis project focussed on the wounded periphery of our cities, inhabiting the boundary through a reconsideration of public and private space. The linear city would navigate the edge and mediate the space between city and periphery and bring in to question the infrastructural role of housing.

Prior to joining Nissen Richard Studio, he worked with several different practices, including Australian architecture practice Terroir where he worked on cultural buildings and interior projects. He has also gained design experience working on varying scales of housing in both Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Outside of work Ben is keenly interested in the image of architecture and cold water swimming.
