Emmy Bacharach
Architect
Emmy joined Nissen Richards Studio in 2025 as an architect, working across architecture and exhibition design projects. She brings a rigorous and forward-thinking approach to design, informed by her breadth of experience across a range of scales and contexts.
Emmy studied architecture at the University of Cambridge, graduating with first class honours in 2015. She went on to study at the Royal College of Art for her Masters and completed her professional qualification at the Architectural Association. She has a broad range of experience in architectural practice across the cultural, residential, civic and infrastructure sectors, having worked in London and Istanbul at several high-profile, design-oriented practices. Significant projects she has been involved in include a new-build opera house, whilst working at Tim Ronalds Architects; the new Museum of Istanbul, whilst at Salon Alper Derinbogaz; and several large-scale, transport-led infrastructure projects (HS2, Bakerloo Line Extension) at WW+P.
Alongside her architectural practice, Emmy has pursued her interest in emerging technologies as co-founder of all-female design collective Xcessive Aesthetics, with whom she has developed several installations that merge the digital and physical. Emmy teaches part-time at the Design Academy Eindhoven, co-leading a bachelors design studio that takes a critical, experimental approach to digital technologies.
Outside of the studio Emmy is a keen musician and DJ, she loves travelling and learning about different cultures and is often found exploring in nature.
