Gianluca Vartan
Architectural Assistant
Gianluca joined Nissen Richards Studio in 2026, bringing with him experience at the intersection of architecture, theatre, and creative technology. His work is defined by an interest with narrative space, exploring how environments, whether physical or digital, can tell complex cultural stories.
He holds a BA in Architecture from the University of Cambridge, where he graduated in 2024. Since then, he has operated across disciplines: developing augmented reality experiences for the Horniman Museum to visualise Yoruba folklore and working as a theatre set design assistant for productions at several venues including Sydney Opera House and the Abbey Theatre, Dublin. Before joining the studio, Gianluca worked as a Part 1 Architectural Assistant at Selencky Parsons Architects, where he worked on a sensitive coach house refurbishment into a learning space.
Outside of architecture, Gianluca is a two-time Boat Race winner with Cambridge University and continues to train on the water at the Royal Albert Docks with his local rowing club.
