Great Exhibition of the North

Great North Museum Hancock

A radical museum takeover celebrating northern creativity, innovation and industrial heritage

Exhibition Design, Interpretation, Selected

In 2017, the Great North Museum staged a museum take over. In a radical move to tell a different story during the Great Exhibition of the North, we worked with the Museum to cover up the permanent displays. Instead, we added layers of hundreds of objects to tell a story of northern innovation and creativity. Many of these objects were high profile loans from museums, galleries and private collections.

Across the different spaces, we created interesting and exciting juxtaposition. We used bold graphics and pattern, and coloured lights to define different themes, working with lighting designers DHA.
