Broadwick Live

A new multi-purpose music, cultural and event space within a Grade II Listed Victorian industrial building in West London

Architecture, Selected

‘Exhibition London’ is a new multi-purpose live music and events venue within the existing eastern shed of a pair Grade II Listed Victorian industrial buildings, known as the Dimco Buildings, in the heart of the Westfield London Development.

We were appointed by Broadwick Live to prepare feasibility and concept proposals to evaluate the potential for the creation of a new venue within the historic envelope.

Given the generous height within the building, but needing to respect the historic nature of the envelope, we developed a strategy of inserting a steel ‘table’ with a new main space at mezzanine level, with the foyer and back of house facilities being located underneath. The main public entrances utilised the existing openings to the north, while servicing takes place at the existing openings to the south thus having minimal external impact on the historic fabric.

The outline design concept was successful in meeting the needs of both the operator, Broadwick Live and the landlord, Westfield, and the project was subsequently realised by Westfield’s own in-house team with Nissen Richards acting as advisor to Broadwick Live to ensure the original architectural vision and the operational requirements were maintained.
