Shakespeare in Ten Acts

The British Library

A highly theatrical exhibition charting Shakespeare’s reinvention across the ages

Exhibition Design, Graphic Design

Celebrating the 400thanniversary of Shakespeare’s death, this exhibition charts his reputation as it has shifted across the ages, tracing his plays as they have been transformed and reinvented. The ten performances chosen form key historical moments, which have in some way had an impact on his legacy.

We created a highly theatrical exhibition through a series of spaces and scene-setting moments, showcasing treasures from the British Library’s collection. Different textures, colours and theatrical typography were carefully chosen to reflect the era in which each performance occurred. We also collaborated with fashion designer Donatella Barbieri, whose artistic costume of Harpy was suspended as part of the set.
